Frequently asked questions

How do I open a card someone sent me?

Cards sent to you in the app are in Archive → Received filter.

For a card shared outside the app, go to the Decode tab: upload the card image or a screenshot, or type the REF code under the card (XXXX-XXXX). The QR code is only on the back of a print file; cards shared on screen have no QR.

You can also listen to a public card from a share link in your browser, without the app.

What is Decode?

Decode brings back the voice hidden in a card image. Upload an image, a screenshot or a story recording, type the REF code or scan the QR on the back of a printed card. If you upload the back of a print file from your gallery, it reads the QR from there too. Public cards decode without signing in; private cards need you to sign in to Vesper.

What is a theme, and how do I choose one?

A theme is your card's paper and texture; the voice wave and text stay readable on every theme. Before saving, tap the theme button under the card on the record screen (palette icon, showing the current theme's name): classic themes on top, the theme collection below.

Can I change the theme of a card I've saved?

In the latest version of the app, with Vesper+: open the card in Archive and choose "Change theme" from the menu. A sealed card that hasn't opened yet keeps its theme. An older image you shared before still decodes in Decode.

Can I seal a card after saving it?

In the latest version of the app, as long as nobody else has heard it yet: open the card in Archive, choose "Seal" from the menu and pick a date. If the card was played by someone else, sent to a friend, claimed, or printed, a seal can't bring the surprise back; record a new card and seal that instead. Seal allowances and the date limit are the same as when sealing while saving; a seal never opens early.

The card says it's sealed. When can I listen?

The person who left the card sealed it until a date: it can't be played before then. The card shows its opening date; tap "Remind me when it opens" to get a notification when the seal breaks. Seals open by server time, so changing your device clock doesn't help.

The wrong person claimed my private card. What can I do?

A private card shared outside the app belongs to the first person who opens it signed in to Vesper; after that only they can open it.

How do I delete my account?

In the app: Profile → Settings → Account & data → "Delete my account". You'll be asked to type "DELETE" to confirm; your account is deleted immediately and permanently. If you can't access the app, use the form on the account deletion page.

How do I cancel my Vesper+ subscription?

Vesper+ is bought through the App Store or Google Play and can only be cancelled in the store's subscription settings (iPhone: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions; Android: Google Play → profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions). Deleting your account doesn't cancel a subscription.

Send refund requests to the store that took the payment; the store decides: on iPhone at reportaproblem.apple.com, on Android in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Budget & history.

I paid but Vesper+ isn't showing.

On the Vesper+ screen, tap "Restore purchases". If that doesn't work, write to destek@vespercard.com with your username.

Is a print file a physical product?

No. A print file is a digital file; nothing is shipped and no physical product is sent. After you buy it, it arrives by email and stays in the app under Profile → My prints; you can print it yourself if you like.

I didn't get the print file email.

Your file is always in Profile → My prints, and you can download it from there. Also check your spam folder for the email.

Someone keeps sending me cards or requests I don't want.

Use "Block" and "Report" from the person's or the card's menu. Someone you block can't send you cards or friend requests, and cards they shared with you before are hidden.

My account was suspended.

Write your appeal to destek@vespercard.com with your username; we'll review it and get back to you. If you have a subscription, you can cancel it in the store's subscription settings.

The microphone isn't working.

iPhone: Settings → Vesper → Microphone. Android: Settings → Apps → Vesper → Permissions → Microphone.

Someone shared my voice or photo without my consent.

Tap "Report" on the card ("Report this card" on the Decode screen) and pick the reason that fits best; if you're not sure, pick "Other". If you don't have an account, email the card's REF code to destek@vespercard.com with the subject "Content without consent". We review reports within 24 hours and remove content that breaks the rules. If there is blackmail or a threat, keep the evidence (REF code, screenshots) and go to the police or the public prosecutor.

I got a card in a familiar voice asking for money.

Don't reply to or pay a card that asks for money, bank details or a code until you've checked with the sender another way you already know (call them). Report the card with "Report" ("Report this card" on the Decode screen), pick the reason that fits best and block the person. Vesper will never ask you for a password or payment details.

Reporting abuse

Wherever you see someone else's content in the app, you'll find "Report" and "Block". We review reports within 24 hours, remove content that breaks the rules, and suspend or close the account that shared it.

If you don't have an account or the content is on a share link, email the card's code (the REF code or the code in the link) to destek@vespercard.com. The "Report this content" link on the listening page prepares that email for you.
